Swing Dances with Partner
Swing - Lindy Hop
Lindy Hop is a partner dance whose roots can be traced back to Afro-American dance styles. It was born in Harlem, New York in the 1930s from the Afro-American population who danced the jazz from that era--swing music.

Lindy Hop quickly became popular in the US and it extended to Europe through the professional troupes' shows, films and American soldiers sent to fight in WW1 and WW2.

After a few decades, Lindy hop was put aside for more popular dances such as rock’n’roll. It has become fashionable again around the world, especially in Barcelona, where more and more people are discovering it and falling in love.

Classes are focused on connection between the partners and musicality.

West Coast Swing

Solo Dance of Swing
Swing - Solo Jazz
Solo Jazz/Jazz Steps is an individual dance. It predates Lindy Hop and has come from a variety of different cultural traditions, but mainly from the Afro-American culture of North America. It shares the same name as the bustling city of South Carolina. Its dynamic style and spectacular sense of fun is closely identified with the wild spirit of the 1920's. It had a huge impact on the dance culture of the time, both for the complex coordination it requires and for the difficult steps-- rotation of the feet and waist and the flexing and extending of the arms and knees.

Solo Blues
Blues is traditionally an African American dance that can either be danced with a partner or alone; Solo Blues is for the latter. It came from North America in the early 20th century and became known in Europe in the 1920's. It's a smooth dance style with sensual moves and slow steps and plenty of room for improvisation. Contemporany
Contemporary dance is an artistic expression based on classical ballet's technique, but which comprises not-so-rigid movements. It was born as a reaction to the classical forms and probably as a need to more freely express an idea, a feeling or an emotion--just like in classical ballet but with corporal movements typical from the 20th and 21st centuries. The pioneer was I. Duncan, followed by M. Graham, and R. St. Denis, among others. The aims are: to develop the physical potential of each dancer respecting their limits and acting from relaxation and correct body alignment all while maintaining the goal of avoiding pain and harmful corporal habits. The technique is based on work with the body's weight, the correct use of the floor and flexibility. This is achieved by different exercices and choreographies, as the main goal remains the expression of an emotion through the body.
